Event Policy

The Commonwealth Series is a series of a one-day tournaments hosted by Atlantic Coast Events (ACE) in the Virginia Beach, VA area. These events are geared for developmental teams to provide matched competition. For information on other ACE tournaments, visit www.atlanticcoastevents.net.

 

PAYMENT Make payments by Friday, February 28. You have the option to pay online via AES or send in a check. If sending a check, please follow the instructions below:

 

STEP 1 Make the check out to Atlantic Coast Events.

STEP 2 In the memo section, write the tournament date(s) and your club name if for several teams or team name if for one team.

STEP 3 Print and include the Entry Form with your check in the same envelope.

STEP 4 Address the envelope to the address included in the next section.

ROSTERS Rosters are due by Friday, March 6 in AES. However, the sooner the better so that your coaches receive all information leading up to this event! When filling out your team rosters, please, make sure that the accurate email addresses and phone numbers are used for your coaches so that they receive the proper information leading up to the event. A coach from each team must turn in a PRINTED and SIGNED roster to the Tournament Director at their team's venue prior to playing their first game on Saturday. If your club, team and coaches only have AAU membership (aka, if they do NOT have USAV or JVA memberships) please bring a roster that includes your team's AAU numbers.

JVA SANCTIONED This is a JVA-sanctioned event. All clubs, athletes, and adults (coaches, team representatives, etc) on team rosters must be either USAV or AAU members. All adults on the rosters will need to have a current JVA Background Screen/APS training. They DO NOT accept AAU Background Screen. However, regardless of the background check, everyone needs to go through the link and follow the instructions provided below from JVA.

 

All adults on the roster must go to this link JVA Registration and do the following based on membership status:

 

*If they have a current USAV membership, on the affiliations page in that link select USAV. They will then be able to enter in their USAV#. They will NOT need to take the JVA training.

 

*If they do NOT have a current USAV membership or JVA membership (aka only AAU), they will need a JVA screening. It is $38 for a two year screen/training. [Basically this means if you did not have a background check through USAV or JVA, you will need to have this.]

 

LOCATIONS This event has potential to be hosted at both the TVA in Portsmouth and the TVA in Virginia Beach. We are unable to tell you which location each division will be playing until the week of the tournament as it will depend on how the divisions develop.

SCHEDULE AND EVENT INFO SHEET The event information sheet for both spectators and teams and the schedule will be finalized and sent out to club directors and coaches by the Wednesday evening prior to the tournament. Please note that if you ask for this information in advance, we will not be able to satisfy your request. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we wait to see how the divisions form. Doors will open at 7AM with the first match of the day taking place at 8AM.

 

CHECK-IN Check in will be on the Saturday of the event. A coach from each team must turn in a PRINTED and SIGNED roster to the Tournament Director at their team's venue prior to playing their first game on Saturday. If your club, team and coaches only have AAU membership (aka, if they do NOT have USAV or JVA memberships) please bring a roster that includes your team's AAU numbers.

 

SEEDING We do our best to rank appropriately so that every team has the opportunity to have an enjoyable experience. We look at overall results. If a team is playing up a division, they will be ranked after all of the other teams within the age bracket unless we have results from previous tournaments for them within the same age bracket.

 

FORMAT Teams start in pools with placement based on each team's record. The results of pool play will determine placement of each team in single elimination playoffs. Each match will be the best of three sets with the first two sets of 25 and the third set to 15. No cap. Each team will be guaranteed five matches.
