Event Policy

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA: This is NOT an open entry tournament where team acceptance is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, acceptance criteria is based on team performance relative to strength of field and rests strongly on performance history and strength of a teams' competition schedule. The majority of the tournament field (80-90%) will be accepted prior to the Christmas holiday to allow teams to plan travel, etc. The final acceptances and complete tournament field will be set after MLK, Jr. weekend events have been concluded. Teams wishing to be considered for first round acceptances must have entered and paid by December 15th.

TEAMS NEW TO MAPL or those concerned about team acceptance MUST COMPLETE A PRE-ACCEPTANCE SURVEY which is used to assist the MAPL Competition Committee with team acceptance criteria.

PAYMENT: Teams will not be accepted into the event without payment. Entry checks are not deposited until team is accepted.

ROSTERS: You are able to enter the event and be accepted without a roster in AES, but roster deadlines are set due in January to ensure coaches, club directors, and the team representative receive important tournament updates via the AES mailing center.

REFUND POLICY:  A full refund will be given provided we receive written/email notification no later than December 15th at 5PM [info@trianglevolleyball.org]. There will be no refunds for withdrawn or dropped teams after this date.

EVENT LOCATIONS:

  • RED [13/14s] will play at Triangle's new facility [121 Competition Center Drive, Morrisville]
  • BLACK/BLUE will play at the Raleigh Convention Center

DIVISIONS: MAPL has three (3) mixed age divisions. BLACK [16-18s]; BLUE [14-16s] and RED [13-14s].

DIVISION PLACEMENT: It is typical that less than ten 16s teams play in the BLACK division and less than ten 14s teams play in the BLUE division. Initial acceptances for all 14s teams will be in the RED division and all 16s teams will be in the BLUE division regardless of which division the team registered for. Once the field is set it will be determined which 14s teams will play in the BLUE division and which 16s teams will play in the BLACK division.

FORMAT: This event is power-pooled to set up competitive matches from the start for all teams.

SEEDING: Seeding will rely primarily on results as found in AES. It is each team's responsibility to maintain their results in AES for seeding purposes.

HOTELS: see the event website for details on securing hotels. While this is NOT a Stay to Play event our housing service has secured all downtown, walking distance DOUBLE rooms.
